    ABSTRACT

    Traffic accident is the most frequently happened on roads in Bangkinang – Rantau Berangin which become the main road between cities and provinces. It can be seen from the number of accidents that occur. To prevent traffic accidents, characteristics of traffic and cause traffic accidents should be analyzed. Review the location of roads Bangkinang – Rantau Berangin (60 to 75 Km) . The data used in the form of such secondary data, traffic data accident and the LHR data from 2005-2009. Calculations is using with formula Black and Black Spot Site to determine thr prone to accidents and analyze the data quantitatively.
    The highest accident rate on roads Bangkinang – Rantau Berangin during the five years (2005-2009) happened to the Kuok – Rantau Berangin roads with a known value of Accident Black Spot rate (2.06) while the Black Site Accident Rate (0.68) is due to the heavy traffic conditions and dense with trading activities. Based on the type of vehicles that frequently had an accident is the motorcycle, which has as many as 23 events. The most frequently happened during the day was in the afternoon, about10:00 to 14:00 a.m as many as 22 events, judging from the age of most victims of an accident that is the age of 31-35 years as many as 31 victims of the accident. Meanwhile, the main factor of traffic accidents is the human error, which is caused by a driver carelessly driving. To create such an orderly, safe, comfortable and comfortable traffic, we need to improve the road itself, especially the adequate traffic signs.
